Owl Inspired Art Journal Video

Hello Bloggers!

I'm often asked where my inspiration comes from & this week

 I was inspired by the artwork of 6th graders.

Why? Because I happened to be looking for owl art when

I stumbled upon MJ's site. I was super excited about

her owls so I had my children create

similar paintings for our homeschool art class.

We opted to leave our backgrounds white, but MJ had her students

use bright colors for theirs.

 

Here's what my 3rd & 8th grader completed:

GORGEOUS, huh?!!

I loved how they turned out & was completely

inspired to create an art journal/ sketchbook similar

to their paintings.

New Paintings for December!

Winter is quickly approaching & the cold weather

has forced our family indoors this past week.

My girls are also sick & curled up on the couch, so I'm

taking advantage of this time & being productive in my

art room! I have listed the above paintings,

in original form, on Ebay & also listed

prints of these paintings on Etsy.

Summer's approaching

 

Time seems to be FLYING lately & summer is quickly approaching.

As a homeschool mom, I'm thrilled that our year is nearing an end

 & I'm so excited to be closer to pool season!

The painting above was created for a little
boy's nursery room! The theme was, "Pond Life" &
I couldn't be happier with this frog, especially his mouth :o)

Art Journaling

 

Scrapbooking used to be my favorite hobby.

I spent YEARS purchasing supplies, printing pictures,

& collecting paper. It was good while it lasted, but my

new addiction is art journaling! I love the fact that you don't need

much to create beautiful journals. With lots of people recycling these

days, magazines & catalogs are easy to come by (not to mention FREE!)

I'm not sure if it's the hunt I enjoy most or just the idea

of cutting out images already colored for you, but either way

this new hobby is proving to be a fun one!

Mixed Media Bookmarks

 

Bookmarks are quick projects & so easy to make. They make great gifts anytime of the year (especially if they're personalized!) Here are a few that I'm working on today. Enjoy!

Painted River Rocks

Living near a National Forest & having a creek to play in comes in very handy sometimes. While playing in the water one day, my girls discovered the river rocks (pictured above) & although they were beautiful to look at for awhile...6 months to be exact...I needed to find a use for them! Feeling the need to add color to them, I decided primer, acrylic paint, & stamps would do the trick. After a few hours playing around with the rocks...I loved the end result! I now have a whole collection on display in my craftroom for endless inspiration :o)
